Multi-tasking

This morning Parker and I were having a rather in depth conversation and right in the middle of it Parker burped but kept on talking. When he finished his sentence he goes, "Mom, look I can do two things at once. See, I can burp and talk at the same time."

Something so simple.. yet so difficult...

Yesterday Trevis and Parker went to see the movie Cars. It was Parker's first movie theatre experience and according to both, a very fun one. Last night Trev was recounting the 2 1/2 hour experience for me and gave me a funny story. I just wish I could have seen it in person.

The theatre had stadium seating and so Trev picked seats for the guys and they sat down to eat some popcorn. Well, a few minutes after sitting down Trev looked over at Parker and noticed he was on the edge of his seat and looked a little uncomfortable. He turned to him and said, "Hey Park, relax. We'll be here awhile. Sit back and enjoy it." He said Parker gave him a funny look and still kept sitting on the edge of the seat so he said again to him, "Sit back Park. You'll be more comfy." Well, he said Parker looked at him a little wierd and then scooted himself back in the chair real slowly. Just as he leaned back, the chair folded up on him and he got stuck in between the seat. He didn't weigh enough to keep the seat down. Trev said if Parker hadn't looked so scared and confused, it would have been hysterical. Needless to say we cracked up about it once he went to bed... and now you can too:)

A minor detail...

One of Parker's favorite songs is God of Wonders and he sings it at the top of his lungs whenever we are in the car or around the house. One line in the song is "The earth declares your majesty." Well, I guess I never really paid attention or maybe it's b/c he is rockin to it so loud that I never heard it before but last night while singing it acappella in the bathtub I realized he was singing (with a lot of gusto I might add)... "The earth declares your magic sheep!!!!!" I started laughing and he says, " Mom, are you laughing at magic sheep too? I think it's funny they have magic sheep." When I told him it was "majesty" he looked at me and said, "But I really like magic sheep better." and continued to belt it out at the top of his little lungs!

I was always told it didn't matter how loudly, quietly, beautiful or badly you sang to God b/c he loved our worship anyway we had to offer it... I will add to that it if we all sang with Parker's enthusiasm, I think we would all have more meaningful worship experiences and probably give the angels a lot more to smile about:)

The absent-minded Mommy

There are days when I am quite absent-minded and forgetful. I have no good excuse except that now with 2 small children always needing something I am running in lots of directions and my mind is always going. Fortunately, Parker is quite forgiving of this minor flaw as proven yesterday.

Yesterday morning after breakfast Parker asked me if he could watch a Veggie Tales video which I replied sure but I would need to get it out of the car first. I told him to go ahead and sit on the couch and I would be right there. Well at that particular moment Lillie woke up and I went into her room to get her. I changed her diaper, played with her, we read a book and then we came in the kitchen to eat breakfast. While I was feeding her I told Parker to get his bathing suit on and brush his teeth, which he did quickly and then took a seat back on the couch (all this time you guessed it... I had forgotten about the video). Then I got Lillie ready for the pool and I could hear Parker singing on the couch (The Veggie tales theme song mind you and I still didn't get it) and then he made himself a little pillow fort and put his trains thru it. It crossed my mind that he was playing really well and I did remember to tell him so but I was still oblivious to the fact that I had promised him a video almost an hour before. I then asked him to help me bring some things out to the van which he did, and when I came back inside he was back on the couch but this time he was hanging upside down and pretending he was a fire fighter on a rescue mission (don't ask). I then realized I hadn't heard from Lillie for a few minutes and find her in our room playing with my hair clips so I sit down with her and play with her for a little awhile. We go back out in the living room and I excitedly ask Parker if he is ready for the pool and his exasperated reply was," Mom... did you know I was SOOOOOOOO patient!!!" For a split second I forgot but then it hit me... his Veggie Tales movie!!!!! I apologized to him and told him I had completely forgotten about the video in the car. He laughed and said "You are a silly mommy."

Thank you Parker for being such an AWESOME little guy and for cutting mommy some slack.

Thank you God for being such an AWESOME God and forgiving me time and time again even though I do not deserve it.

Questionable behavior

Parker asks lots of random questions (as noted in this blog) and sometimes I have the answers (or can at least make up a good one) and more times than not I need to Google them. He must have taken note b/c the other day he asked, "Mom what do butterflies eat?" When I told him I thought maybe little bugs but I wasn't exactly sure he said, " Can you go look it up on the computer because I wanna know."

Note to self

Me: "Parker did you really love seeing Mickey and giving him a hug?"
Parker: "Yeah... but Mickey's face is weally hard. Did you know that mom?"
Mom: "No. I had no idea. I'll have to remember that."
Parker: " I thought it was soft but then he hugged me and mushed my face and it was hard. I didn't like it."

Home again...

Blogging took a vacation to Florida for a week but now that we're home... the funny things out of Parker's mouth just keep coming!!!! New posts coming soon...
