Root, Root, Root for the "home team"

So, as Northern Kentuckians we have been influenced by REDS fever. It's not that we necessarily like them or that they are even good (heck, they aren't even ok...) BUT everyone here LOVES them and is loyal to them and well quite frankly, they have an awesome stadium. So, we have attended our share of games this season. We were fortunate enough to reap the benfits of Trev's company's box suite but nothing beats sitting in the bleachers with the rest of the fans. So, today Trev and Parker embarked on a guys afternoon to the last game of the season. Here are some pics from the event. Doesn't it make you want to eat some peanuts and throw them on the ground???

Rain rain come and stay...

One of these days I need a post on "Toys our kids have, that we didn't have but would have loved to have had."

One of these toys would be towel games. Not sure how familiar everyone is with these but basically they are beach towels with games printed on them that come with waterproof pieces. Some examples are Checkers, Tic-tac-toe and Twister. Kohl's had a big end of summer sale and I picked up a Candlyland game for us. We have had sooo much fun with this silly thing. Especially Lillie who loves the big pieces and colorful towel. Anyway, rainy day = hanging at home in sweats, playing games and drinking hot chocolate. Even though it is 87 degrees, we're blasting the air conditioning and pretending it is cold out just for the ambiance. It hasn't rained here in over 2 months so the rain is very welcome and we are going to celebrate it!

Myrtle Beach Snapshots...

We had the awesome opportunity to vacation with our best friends, The McFarland family for a week in Myrtle Beach. It was a time filled with much love, laughter, sun, fun, and wonderful memories. It came at such a good time for us. We are in the midst of trying to find a house, Trev traveling a lot with his job and me lonely for all the friends we left behind. We shared a condo right on the beach and so when we weren't busy swimming or playing outside, the kids were having a blast together inside. I highly recommend if you have small kids to vacation with friends who also do. Then, the kids are always entertained, you have free babysitting and the laughs are quadrupled!

Worthy title...

So, my sister, affectionately known as Aunt Lahlah has come to stay with us for a while. We are more than excited about this since she is super fun, laid back and very easy to live with. She graduated college in May and is trying to find a job and pay off some student loans. In the meantime she has been hanging out with us and doing all the stuff we do on a regular basis (grocery shopping, errands, dropping Parker off at school, etc...)I mentioned to her that I wish we could just pay her to hangout with us and be an extra set of hands. To which she replied, "That would be cool. I could be a Stay At Home Aunt!"

Tricks of the trade

For his birthday, Parker really really really wanted a little Hot wheels car named Chick (from the CARS movie)... To trick and suprise him we wrapped it up and stuck it in a big printer paper box and then put a bunch of magazines in it to make it heavy.

It was the last gift we gave him and as he looked at it, he said, "Hmm... definitely not a racecar but it's big. Cool!". Well, he tore into the gift, quickly opened the box and looked in. His face said it all and as he tried not to express his disappointment he looked at us and said, "Magazines??? This wasn't on my birthday list. Maybe Mom's list but not on mine." We started laughing and showed him the gift wrapped up next to the magazines. To which he exclaimed, "Whew! I thought you really gave me magazines for my birthday! That would have stinked."

So now you know... Pottery Barn catalogs are not a winner as a fun birthday gift for a 5 year old boy!

just a little reminder

"You make everything glorious
You make everything glorious
You make everything glorious
And I am Yours
What does that make me?"

Lillie and I were on our way home from dropping Parker off this morning and David Crowder's song "Glorious" started playing. I have heard the song many times before but for whatever reason, the words this morning meant something greater. I needed to be reminded.

My prayer is that YOU are reminded today that you were wonderfully created and are incredibly special!

school vs. pool

So, even though the calendar says September and school begins, we are in conflict here. It is still in the mid 90's. So, yesterday Parker started school and when he got home guess where we headed? Yup, straight to the pool! Here are some first day of school pics...showing off his new backpack and lunchbox and one calling dad as soon as we got in the car to tell him about school.
