Lillie-bug and her Lifeguard

TRICK-OR-TREAT!!!
Must be a KY Halloween b/c Parker was a lifeguard in swimtrucks and flipflops and Lillie was a ladybug and noone was cold. LOVE IT!

We took the kids trick-or-treating in our new neighborhood and had sooo much fun. We met a lot of the neighbors and got lots of invitations to play on swingsets and in playhouses. We love it here and what better introduction into the neighborhood then free candy!

PG for HGTV

The one adult channel I have always considered somewhat "safe" to watch with our kids is HGTV. That is, until last Thursday...

Parker and I enjoy the show "Freestyle" and by 5:00 when it is on, we are ready for some R&R. While on commercial break we saw a promo for their new show "Property Virgins". While the show iteself looks good, I am not thrilled about the word "virgin" being in my 5 year olds vocabulary. Case in point: Today when I picked Parker up from school, one of the teachers informed me that at lunch the kids were all discussing their favorite TV shows and while Wiggles, Dora and Blues clues were on the top of their lists, Parker announced his favorite is "Property Versions"... even though he hasn't seen it... his mommy (that's me)said it's going to be our new favorite."

Yeah... I'm thinking I might not get to be classroom mom this year...

"Country Pumpkins"

We spent the afternoon at Bi-Water farms(thanks for the blog tip Heather). What a great place to hangout as a family and enjoy all that fall has to offer (if you can call 82 degrees fall!)! We took full advantage of the pumpkin patches, train ride, corn maze, and baby animals. We did skip the hot cocoa and apple cider for a more refreshing ice water!

FYI

Okay, so for everyone who has asked me about "towel games"(and there are A LOT of you) there are a few on Ebay at the moment. If you search under "checkers towel", "tic tac toe towel" and "beach game towels" you will find a few listings...

Just wanted to let those of you know who are ambitious Christmas shoppers....

Catalog Creations continued...

As you might have read a few days ago (see Catalog Creation entry), Parker marked up my Pottery Barn catalog pretty good with some "connect the dots" activities. Well, upon more closer observation today I also found some random circles and X's throughout the magazine. I tried to figure it out on my own but I was stumped. So I decided to ask the guilty party about them. Parker's response was, "Oh, the circles and X's are the things that don't belong or what is wrong in the picture Mom. See... in this one there are markers on the floor and we don't keep markers in our rooms. And see there...she has a skateboard in the house and they don't belong in the house. Oh, and that. Well, there's no baby in the crib and there is supposed to be a baby sleeping in there."

Too much Hi-lights magazine in our house I guess...

Pool Party!

Parker's birthday party was Saturday and what fun we had! Since we haven't lived here long enough to make friends we chose to have his party about an hour 1/2 from here with all our "old friends". I joked around saying the party was more for me so I could see all my mommy friends who I miss tremendously. Parker had a blast though and has thanked us every morning when he wakes up for his pool party with his friends. I, on the other hand, have cried every morning b/c I miss everyone sooo much! Thanks for coming out and making our day sooo much fun!

Catalog Creations

So, today I open up my Potterybarn catalog to take a look and I notice that there are random lines all over the pages. After more careful observation I realize there is actually a systemized approach to the lines. Parker had mistaken the A. B. C.s on the items as a connect-the-dots activity. In doing so, now The Rustic Thomas Collection connects to the Sabrina Baskets and Liners which connects to the Lullaby Ottoman.

testing.. 123... testing.. 123...

This morning Parker and I were talking about God and how He talks to us. Being only 5 he had a hard time understanding that God does talk to us just usually not audibly and that he uses other means and avenues. Well, after discussing this for several minutes in an exasperated voice he finally says, "Why doesn't God just get a microphone? Or use a telephone? That would be a good idea. I could hear Him good with those."

Yes. It would be an excellent idea! Especially when you are trying to find a house in a strange place and you aren't sure which one to buy and which one would be best. A very LOUD microphone with God's voice coming over it would be oh soooo helpful!
