The absent-minded Mommy

There are days when I am quite absent-minded and forgetful. I have no good excuse except that now with 2 small children always needing something I am running in lots of directions and my mind is always going. Fortunately, Parker is quite forgiving of this minor flaw as proven yesterday.

Yesterday morning after breakfast Parker asked me if he could watch a Veggie Tales video which I replied sure but I would need to get it out of the car first. I told him to go ahead and sit on the couch and I would be right there. Well at that particular moment Lillie woke up and I went into her room to get her. I changed her diaper, played with her, we read a book and then we came in the kitchen to eat breakfast. While I was feeding her I told Parker to get his bathing suit on and brush his teeth, which he did quickly and then took a seat back on the couch (all this time you guessed it... I had forgotten about the video). Then I got Lillie ready for the pool and I could hear Parker singing on the couch (The Veggie tales theme song mind you and I still didn't get it) and then he made himself a little pillow fort and put his trains thru it. It crossed my mind that he was playing really well and I did remember to tell him so but I was still oblivious to the fact that I had promised him a video almost an hour before. I then asked him to help me bring some things out to the van which he did, and when I came back inside he was back on the couch but this time he was hanging upside down and pretending he was a fire fighter on a rescue mission (don't ask). I then realized I hadn't heard from Lillie for a few minutes and find her in our room playing with my hair clips so I sit down with her and play with her for a little awhile. We go back out in the living room and I excitedly ask Parker if he is ready for the pool and his exasperated reply was," Mom... did you know I was SOOOOOOOO patient!!!" For a split second I forgot but then it hit me... his Veggie Tales movie!!!!! I apologized to him and told him I had completely forgotten about the video in the car. He laughed and said "You are a silly mommy."

Thank you Parker for being such an AWESOME little guy and for cutting mommy some slack.

Thank you God for being such an AWESOME God and forgiving me time and time again even though I do not deserve it.
