The one adult channel I have always considered somewhat "safe" to watch with our kids is HGTV. That is, until last Thursday...
Parker and I enjoy the show "Freestyle" and by 5:00 when it is on, we are ready for some R&R. While on commercial break we saw a promo for their new show "Property Virgins". While the show iteself looks good, I am not thrilled about the word "virgin" being in my 5 year olds vocabulary. Case in point: Today when I picked Parker up from school, one of the teachers informed me that at lunch the kids were all discussing their favorite TV shows and while Wiggles, Dora and Blues clues were on the top of their lists, Parker announced his favorite is "Property Versions"... even though he hasn't seen it... his mommy (that's me)said it's going to be our new favorite."
Yeah... I'm thinking I might not get to be classroom mom this year...

I'm right there with you. At this point, I DVR anything Kyra and I watch together from HGTV so we can skip over that very commercial. I'm not thrilled with the title either.
On another note, I'm feeling for you right now being lonely and far from friends. That's such an awful place to be emotionally and I'm praying for you to find some mommy friends soon.
Love ya tons and miss you!!!

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. For now, "Property Versions" is what it is called around here:)
I definitely need some mommy friends. It will happen eventually. I am meeting other moms at Parker's school and I will start MOPS next month so hopefully these little connections will form into something deeper. The problem is, I have such great friends from our last place that have set such a high standard as far as friends go that it is going to be hard for me to meet other friends who can be as awesome!
Hope you are well and tiredness is fading. I know what that feels like. I too, do not purposely overbook us, but when things come up to make our weeks busy... it is emotionally and physically exhausting!
OK, Joshua and I are cracking up! Mostly, because Jovey would be saying the very same thing, letting all know that we must do the darndest things in the McFarland household! Hang in there, there is still hope for that coveted "perfect mom of preschool" that none of us can ever attain 100%! ha ha!
Hang in there, Nicole. You know how much I miss you and our weekly get togethers. I wish we could have just moved up there together and made life easier for you and more fun for us. I guess God had other plans. MOPS will make a huge difference in your life, I'm sure, as you find other moms that have similar lives, situations and kiddos, just like you did when you jumped out on faith to seek other mommy friends in Henry County. If you can find friends there, you can find them anywhere, right?
God has blessed you wih the personality, the faith and the blessings that will shine through as you search for women you will call your "friends", never forgetting the ones who love you and are praying for you here, of course!
I love you like a sister and wish the world for you in your new home!
Hey- Isn't it scary how even the most innocent seeming shows and channels suddenly have stuff seap in that we don't want our kids to see or hear. I just want to lock them in our house forever when I think about what they will hear at school and away from us.
Okay didn't mean to get so serious because your post was too funny!
I am gonna try to give you a ring so I can actually hear your voice and not just communicate in cyberspace.
LOVE YOU!
