Batteries! Parker thinks that these little metal cylinder shaped objects go in EVERYTHING (and they do!) He thinks every book, stuffed animal, truck, toy , etc. is supposed to have batteries! We pass a random teddy bear in the store and Parker wants it to go "on". We read books at night and he turns them upside down and inside out looking for where sounds and lights might come from. If an object doesn't go "on" he doesn't want any part of it. For Christmas we actually had on our wish list rechargeable batteries. That is what our lives have come to! Some people ask for gift certificates, books, CD's, lotions and soaps but we ask for batteries! We go through more batteries in his Thomas train and radio than most people go through in a year. It's crazy. We should have bought stock in Duracell years ago!
What happened to the good old days (like 7 years ago) when toys moved by a person actually manually moving it? Do you remember when trucks and trains didn't make sounds except for the ones coming from your mouth? Oh, and if you wanted lights you would have to turn off the lamp in the playroom and get out the flashlight for that kind of fun!
On any given day in our house a typical conversation might go like this:
Trev: "Do we have any Double A's?" "What about D's?"
Nicole: "I think the radio takes 4 C's."
Trev: "Oh, we only have 3 C's..."
Nicole: "Take a C out of the Spanish Hokey Pokey Elmo. He doesn't play with that anymore."
All I'm saying, our next kid is playing with vintage wind up toys that we found on Ebay.
