Tools of the trade
It has been pretty amazing for us to observe from very early on in Lillie's arrival the differences between boys and girls. Parker crashes cars, Lillie kisses them. Parker dances with his stuffed animals, Lillie tries to feed them Cheerios and give them milk. Parker runs from one activity to the next without taking a breath, Lillie will sit quietly and watch everything going on around her. But the funniest difference might have come this morning while we were hanging out playing. Parker has a cool tool set that lights up and the hammer makes a fun clanking sound and the drill makes a cool whirrrrling sound. Well, while Parker was hammering away and unscrewing a piece, Lillie picks up the drill and immediately puts it up to her head and pretends she is blowdrying her hair. Makes me wonder what she could do with a hammer and nails???

Purple + Happy = Jesus
Yesterday Parker and I were talking and during our conversation he says, Mommy, I just love Jesus sooooo much!" Of course my heart was overwhelmed with joy since I pray everyday my kids will love and know Jesus. At the same time I am realistic and know that at 3 years old, Parker loves LOTS of things (babies, Blues Clues, Gummy fruits, icecream etc...). Then he says, "Mommy, I don't see Jesus so I don't know what He looks like but he wears a purple coat and he is just very happy." I wanted to laugh but he was dead serious so instead I asked him how he knew what color Jesus's coat was. He answered, "In my bible, Jesus has a purple coat and he has a happy face."

Have you ever wondered...
This is a new segment of my blog called, "Abscure questions asked by Parker this week" (that we admit we had a difficult time answering)
~ "Mommy, how do guys make microwaves?"
~"Mommy, why can't Jesus visit me at our house? I want to show him my legos and trucks."
~"Dad, why did God make thunder?"
~"Dad, why did God make thunder loud?"
~ "Mom, how do those people make clocks?"
~ "Dad, what are tires made of?"
The thing is Trev actually told him, "Tires are made of rubber." So then Parker asked what's rubber made of? And Trev told him petroleum so now he walks around saying "Tires made of wubber and wubber's made of pitoleum."
Glad he asked Daddy that one:)

picture perfect
Last night on the way home from church there was this beautiful sunset. The kind where the sun is a big bright orange ball and...I'll just let Parker describe it for you...
From the backseat Parker pipes up, "WOW! Mom, Dad, look at that sun!!!! It looks just like a picture! 'Know the kind where the sun is pretty and red and there are clouds going through it. Just like a picture."
Even at 3 he knows a beautiful thing when he sees it.

Butt of the joke
Tonite while eating dinner, Lillie dirtied her diaper. Since I couldn't leave Parker by himself in the kitchen I opted to change Lillie on the floor in the livingroom so I could watch him. As I started to undress her Parker exclaims, "Mommmmm... can you please change Lillie in her room. I do not like seeing hiney's!"
Not a word about smelling them just looking at them:)

Our Little Prayer Warrior
For the past several months I have been trying to show Parker that we can pray throughout the day wherever we are and about whatever is on our hearts rather, than just at meals or before bed. I explained to him that God wants us to talk to Him all day long and talk about whatever we feel like and that nothing is too silly for God. I have had to prompt these "spontaneous" prayers like the one about needing to find a close parking spot at Walmart when it was frigidly cold one morning, or the one asking God to help the boy at the park who pushed us three times, or asking for courage one night when the shadows were scary and the one asking Jesus to make us happy because we really missed Daddy after a fun 3 day weekend together. That was until tonite. Trev and I had both gone in Parker's room to tuck him in and pray with him. After about 10 minutes I heard him calling for us so I went back in and he asked if he could have a little glass of water. While he was drinking he asked me what I was doing out in the kitchen and I told him I was getting ready for bed b/c I didn't feel well and wanted to get to bed early. As I was getting ready to close the door he goes, "Mommy, Wait! I need to pray for you and your being sick." I was so touched and amazed that someone so little could be so thoughtful. So I sat back down on his bed and he held my hand and prayed, "Dear Jesus, I pray that mommy not get sick and you make her better. Help her tummy to feel "otay" in morning. AMEN"
Lord, I pray that our little boy always has a prayerful heart. One that is filled with compassion, kindness, and forgiveness. Help me to model for him the unconditional love and grace you have demonstrated to me time and time again. Amen
