Digi-thief...

This is what you get when your preschooler gets hold of your digital camera for a few minutes without your knowledge...

Don't you just love random pics of vintage Fisher price toys and architectural masterpieces (aka: airports made with blocks and crates? Oh and of course the infamous up the nose close up. As a mom I can appreciate the aesthetic value in these photos. Not to mention he could have taken pics of_________(you can fill in the blank).

Princess Produce and her high heels

Once upon a time...( I promise there is relevance) we were on line at Kroger (this morning actually) and there was this fanciful lady (a nice way of saying eccentric and gaudy) in front of us who had on the HUGEST sunglasses ever. Granted, she did resemble a big insect with bulging eyes and I would have loved to have had someone to exchange a smirk or look with. Instead, I have Lillie who's staring very intently at the lady's face. I know what is coming and yet, I have little power to control what comes out of her dimpled cheek face ( I seriously contemplated stepping out of line and changing lanes to avoid exactly what is about to play out). Lillie very loudly and dramatically says, "Look! Goggles Mommy!" while pointing to the ladies glasses. She then proceeds to ask her if she was going swimming? Parker starts cracking up at this question and as I start to shoot him a menacing and fierce "mind your manners glare" he reminds me that his goggles are broken and he needs new ones. Then Lillie tells me she wants pink ones and Parker can have her blue ones. All of this b/c the lady on line chose to wear her "superstar sunglasses" to go grocery shopping. Upon closer examination, Lillie notices that the fanciful lady is also wearing really high heels. I see her staring at them and try to divert her attention to the C-A-N-D-Y (poor parenting trick I know...) this has no impact as her mind is set on the pretty pink and black stilettos. I decide to try the other approach of stating the obvious to help guide her in saying the right thing by saying, "Oohh you like her pretty shoes." She nods her head and then asks the lady if she is a princess and if she is playing dress-up (proceeded by more hysterical laughter from Parker)

Yes Lillie, the lady is a princess wearing goggles playing dress up in her Louie Vuitons. It is our lucky morning... and everyone lived happily ever after!
The End~

Moral of the story: If anyone ever tells you life with kids is always an adventure and exciting... they aren't lying or exaggerating!

God's Provision: 101

It's the beginning of the school year and I guess I am not exempt from learning. I just received my first lesson of the year...

So we sold our house (well, we thought we did) then in the very last hours (and I mean down to hours), it all fell thru and at 5:00 yesterday afternoon we were back to square 1. Trev called to give me the bad news and just as I felt myself begin to worry I started to pray (b/c quite honestly, my kids were tired and hungry, I was tired and grumpy and I just couldn't worry about it at the moment)

Fast forward 3 hours to 8:00. Our agent calls and says she just showed the house and she was writing a new contract for $1000 more than the last one! WHAT!?!? HUH!?!!?

There are times when I feel like God's timing (as perfect and ordained as it is) is LONG and my patience is tested. This time though, I felt like He was saying to me "My child. You do not need to worry and fret b/c I really do have it under control."

Anything can still happen with this deal and it's never "over til it's over". But I am reminded and comforted by the fact that God is watching over every step of this process and He is so very mindful of us. I feel so protected and taken care of at the moment, it is overwhelming.

My prayer is simple today. Lord, I ask that all of our friends and family we love that are dealing with work issues, school schedules, moving frenzies, sick kids, daycare dilemmas, financial hardships, and job changes feel this same sense of care and comfort. The peace that comes with turning all things over to you can be compared to no other.Amen.

A nice prayer request

Parker's bedtime prayer: "Dear Jesus. Thank you for our new home. Please help us make new friends. Nice ones. Not just any friends but nice friends who will share their toys and and not be mean and please don't give us mean friends just nice ones and help them to be really nice... Amen"

Very touching and yet very humorous. I'm glad he has specifications on the kind of friends he would like to have and just in case Jesus didn't catch it the first time, he made sure to repeat himself. My prayer is very much the same.

Literary slumber

Lillie has this book titled, "Night Night Baby" which we have been reading since she was pretty much a newborn. The very last page is you guessed it, of a baby sleeping peacefully in her crib. Well, for the past few months, when we got to the last page Lillie, in a very disturbed voice would say, "No sleep Baby. No sleep." Tonite, I guess she had had it with the sleeping baby and when we turned to the last page, she took the book and put it up to her face and yelled, "WAKE UP BABY!!!" She then proceeded to knock on the page and shake the book up and down.

Not sure what is going on in her little brain but it will be interesting to see Round 2 tonite when she discovers the baby is STILL sleeping.

Hanging out

Here's a view from our corporate apartment...

Navigational tools

Trevis, being the thoughtful and terrific husband that he is bought a GPS for my van. He figured that since I am in a new place and don't know my way around at all that I could use a little assistance (which he would be correct in thinking). If you aren't familiar with a GPS it's basically a navigational device that allows you to punch in your destination and it then tells you where and when to turn and gets you there drama-free and very easily (think: automated Mapquest at your fingertips)

So, we were headed to a pool the other day and the directions were a little complicated. The GPS has this automated voice that kept telling me to "turn right in 2 miles". Thinking I knew where I was going, I skipped the right turn but then drove around in circles a few times. After a few minutes, Parker finally pipes up, "Mom, the girl said to go right. You need to listen to her. She knows where to go."

From now on, I will listen to that voice. Lillie thinks "she" is real and yells "Hi hi" at the box in close range. It's really quite humorous.

Moving up

Literally...

Blogging has taken back seat to moving this past week. We are officially northerners. Northern KY/Cincinatti that is...

More to come on our new home
