U's got a friend in me

Parker (while reading a book to me tonite): Mom, did you know "U" is "Q's" best friend?

Me:
Really? Cool. Did you learn that at school?

Parker:
Yeah...well, why isn't "Q" "U's" best friend? I don't get it. Shouldn't they both be best friends with each other?"

Me:
Well, "Q" needs "U" to make the "Qu" sound but "U" can stand alone.

Parker:
Oh. That could get lonely.

~ Always thoughtful and sensitive to others feelings...down to the letter.

Phonics...I love it! Next maybe he'll tell you about the sneaky e or when two vowels go a'walkin'. By the way, do you know the website starfall.com? It's awesome - fun games/videos that covers all that kind of stuff. I think Parker would love it! My kiddos are obsessed with it. :)

oh yes.. the 2 vowels go a'walkin'... that was the first one I taught him! The sneaky e kind of came naturally but there are others that I have already forgotten. I may need to go play the games to refresh memory! I LOVE LOVE phonics! They are trying to fade it out here but I think it will be around the time when Lils goes to school...She'll hopefully be reading before then anyway. Why any educated individual would want to go totally rote is beyond me! Okay, a rant for another day. You'll never comment on my blog again:)

I love the new pics you posted!!!!I want one of you sitting in your glider in his room... I just picture you there relaxing and chillin with Ethan!

ha! I should have known that Parker would already know all those tricks. I agree - you can't go wrong with phonics. That's the area my students ALWAYS do the best on for the standardized tests each year.

I'll see if I can accommodate your request for pictures...
Honestly, I really only use the glider to rock him back to sleep in the middle of the night. We bought a leather Lazy Boy recliner for the living room (I didn't want to feel trapped in his room all the time), so I use that most of the time during the day.

Did you guys get hit with the winter weather that came through yesterday and today? We had a snow day today. I was hoping you guys didn't get hit - I know you're sick and tired of the snow and ice. Hopefully you've had nicer weather lately! :)

I just love where Parker.s heart was. Isn't it always our children who remind us that every feeling counts. How amazing he is, well, both children really. They keep blessing us, and blessing us by the way their eyes pick up on the little things that matter. Itcauses us to slow down and makes us better for it. Kiss and hug the kiddos from me.
