ANOTHER first... this one I could have done without!

Well, it was bound to happen I just wasn't sure when or how. Today while we were at the playground after school, Parker was on his favorite apparatus: the monkey bars. You can probably finish the story from this point. He slipped. He fell 7 feet. He got the wind knocked out of him. He cried out. His arm was broken! After several hours at the ER and a lot of paperwork I can say we survived our first childhood accident. He did really well (superb, actually) and was brave even thru the tears. He is super relieved that he should be recovered in time for his first flag football game mid October (it's all about the sports). Tomorrow we go to an orthopedic surgeon to get his opinion and a cool permanent cast.

For those inquiring minds he broke his two radial bones in his left arm (right below his wrist). As a lefty, he will have an interesting and frustrating month.

YIKES! That's never fun - especially when it's the writing hand! I've had several students in the past with broken arms, and you're right, it makes things interesting!
Can't wait to see what fun color he chooses for cast.

he is saying blue and gold for MI.. but it may be orange and black for Bengals.. we'll see... he said "definitely NOT pink or anything sparkly!"

Oh my goodness, what a trooper! Brynn had her first bee sting the other day. I thought that was traumatic, but this wins the prize :-)

Praying for yours and Parkers sanity as he tries to make do with one arm for awhile. Hope he's feeling okay albeit a bit stiff on one side.
LOVE YOU!!!!

Ouch! We've been saying our prayers for the last 5 years and are so thankful we haven't had an ER visit with Cade yet...although we know it's inevitable too. Glad you survived your first visit. A cool cast will ALMOST make it fun...for a little while. Can't wait to see a pic of the final cast!!
