"Veggie tales"

Sad. Sad. Sad day. We picked the VERY last of our garden delights!!! Trev did an AMAZING job on our garden and we seriously had yummy veggies from May until now. I really do not want to go to the grocery to buy overpriced tomatoes and peppers. We have become salsa snobs and can't do the stuff from a jar so I guess overpriced produce it is for the next 6 months!  As I am typing this, Lillie just came over and said, " I just want to eat that whole picture!Yummm..." LOL!  The kids LOVED going out to the garden and picking ( and eating) whatever their little hands could grab. There really is something to be said about growing your own food and enjoying it in it's pesticide-free and organic state!   Another sad note, we winterized the yard today... dead headed the rose bushes and shrubs,  mowed  the lawn for the last time, shut down the sandbox  and repainted the deck. I have such a hard time letting go of Summer/Fall and letting Winter do its thing. What are some things you do to get ready for the LONG winter months ahead? Any activities you look forward to with winter approaching??
